Deep breathing trial – Day 2

So day two of my trial and naturally there are no significant changes to report as yet. The biggest challenge I am facing so far is remembering to do it. I haven’t set any reminders in my phone or anything like that, I’m just going to do it from memory and make it as much of a habit as possible. It’s important in that respect in establishing the discipline in doing somethng like this and seeing it through to the end. It’s a way of training yourself to go beyond the point where you want to give up; pushing through the first pain barrier like you might do when running.

While I’m doing the breathing I’m also using that time to slow down, focus and meditate and channel my thoughts on different things. Yesterday I was focussing solely on being grateful for all the wonderful things in my life. At one point today I continued working whilst doing the breathing exercises. That in itself is interesting as I’m counting out loud in my head and still managing to stay focussed on what I was doing.

I’m still following the 1-4-2 x 10 rule and will likely continue this for the full duration of the trial. One thing I have noticed is that during the breathing exercises I start to feel much warmer and my body heats up a lot. Again this does tie in with what I’ve heard before about breathing techniques from old hindu priests who say that it can be used to control the temperature of the body.

I’m very curious to hear from anyone who’s done a similar trial and to find out what results you have had.
