February Challenge – Giving Up Sugar For 28 Days

It’s February and what better time than to set yourself a new challenge! I’ve decided I’m going to do one myself and it’s going to a tough one; for me anyway!

If you’re a regular on the blog you will know that I’ve been doing intermittent fasting, on and off, for quite some time.

For the last 3 months, or since October, I’ve been sticking to it more rigorously. I’ve had a few minor lapses but otherwise, so far, it’s gone well. I’ve lost well over a stone and over the last few weeks, I can literally feel my belly flab melting away.

However, I’ve decided to take things to another level and for February I’ve decided to take on a new challenge!

For the full 28 days of February, I’m giving up sugar!

I know what you’re thinking. “Amit – give up sugar? The world economy is going to take a serious hit!” 😛

It may not sound like a huge deal but, for someone who’s literally lived off sugar since they could crawl, I can tell you, this is going to be tough!

Being totally sugar free as a vegetarian is difficult at the best of times, so I am still going to continue to have a small amount of fruit, breads and pasta.

I will be giving up all other forms of sugar including, chocolates, biscuits, crisps, any kinds of fizzy drinks including sugar free versions, and sugary cereals. On top of that, I will also be giving up my biggest achilles heel of all; my soya mocha’s!! 😮 This sh*t just got serious! 😆

I have friends who’ve been doing this for a long time, including my wonderful blogger friend Arvind Devalia.

This however will be a big jump for me and I’m looking forward to seeing if I can make it all the way through.

I began my challenge on Sunday and so far it’s been very tough, but I’m sticking with it as well as I can. The toughest part so far is the coffee. It’s an easy boost to reach for when I need a pick up.

I’ve had conversations with some friends recently who have also decided to take up a challenge themselves and this is were I turn it over to you?

What challenge do you feel like doing for four weeks? Is there something you have put off, always wanted to do but have yet to take the jump?

I say go for it and tell me in the comments below. Make your public declaration and I will help to hold you accountable. It will help to keep you on track to declare to the world what you intend to do!
