Bollywood Dancing – 7 Steps To Be World Class
With Bollywood becoming ever more popular, and Hollywood actors also taking a splash into the biggest film market in the world, I thought I’d put together my tutorial of how to make it in a Bollywood flick as a dancer. After all, I’ve done comedy, radio and coaching so I thought ‘Heck, why not give dancing a go too!’ 😀
There are many dancing shows around too like: Dancing on Ice; Dancing with the Stars; Strictly Come Dancing; So You Think You Can Dance etc. Then the thought occurred to me that there wasn’t one for Bollywood yet! Then it hit me, why not get a tutorial ready just in case one does happen to come along!
There are certain special characteristics that you need like you need a certain amount of natural flare, grace and dignity…all of which are included in my instructional video. 😆
At school I got given an award for Bollywood dancing which I still have to this day. I’m very proud of that accomplishment and will treasure that trophy forever. 😆 Without further ado, lets get down to it as I can tell you’re dying to try it out for yourself.
Enjoy the video!
Review of Instructions
1. Find a sturdy tree to dance around. (The bigger the better!)
2. Pretend that tree is your long lost love. (Lets all hug a tree!)
3. Throw in some poor quality filming. (It adds to the authenticity.)
4. Act all coy and shy like you’ve never been touched. (Modesty is attractive.)
5. Do some moves like screwing in light bulbs or picking cherries from trees. (Seriously.)
6. Flick your eyebrows and do give some enticing looks with your eyes. (The one eyebrow lift is very seductive.)
7. Find a beautiful stranger to compliment your video. (Be sure they oblige.)
There we have it. You too could be entering Bollywood by following my simple yet powerful tutorial on dancing Bollywood style!
OMG!!!!!! No words…..should have sent a poet!!!!!

Hehe glad it made you giggle! 🙂
The last stranger bit is award-winning.
But now-a-days they are trying to be western-style sexy in their dancing. Unfortunately.

I know exactly what you mean, the last bollywood flick that I saw while I was there last month, karthik calling karthik had no dancing at all. 🙁
LOOOL! Is that the spoof vid for PACE? Been looking forward to seeing that for a while 😉
*cough cough* Maybe the dancing should be left to the experts, no? And maybe bragging about that trophy isn’t so wise….hahaha! Great choice of song though, I LOVE IT!
Very brave and entertaining 😀
Yep that’s the one!
What are you talking about…I’m the one that teaches the experts! 😉
Amit, this is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time!
Big things are clearly beckoning – Bollywood could be knocking on your door soon:-)
Your India experience must already seem a long time ago!

LOL I believe it too, no doubt Karan Johar will be looking at that with tears streaming down his eyes from the beauty of it and will be knocking at my door soon!
Bollywood better watch out Amit! 😀

You know it Chris!! 😉
Ha – very adorable!
I must say I am constantly putting on the music from Slumdog Millionaire and dancing all around the house!
Hi Lauren, welcome to my blog and what a post to make your inaugural comment on. Slumdog was an awesome movie blending the best of both cinemas whereas I was focusing primarily on the Bollywood side. My message to you, shake those hips and booty!
haha! you are funny Amit! Thanks for making me laugh!
Anytime Lana! 🙂 x
Hello Amit,
Vow… this is very funny. You have some knocking steps here. 🙂
Well I know I had a blast 🙂 I can now imagine the trip you had recently.
Bye for now,
Cheryl

Hey Cheryl,
Actually this was filmed quite a while back before my india trip as something fun for a quiz we do for some disabled kids I work with, I thought it was too good not to make use of it here! 🙂
Glad it made you chuckle!!
Thank you for sharing all the right moves.
I like how you turned it into such a simple and practical, step-by-step guide. It’s like you’re a natural.

Hey JD, The trick with indian dancing is to work in the very specific moves at the right times. Thanks for saying I’m a natural, I’m blushing!
Hi Amit,
You are so funny! 🙂
As you know, I lived in India and I miss the movies. The thing that always got me was how in the movies everyone is so rich and yet you would go outside and see the total opposite. Yes, there are very rich people in India who live in mansions and such but yet there is the total opposite too.
Anyway…people cringe at musicals here in America. However, in India, a totally different story. Got to love Bollywood! 🙂
Hi Nadia, glad it made you laugh. It one of the things about India that makes it such a unique place. Those movies are the brief moments of escapism for those poor people who work so hard on minimum incomes. It’s wierd because when I was there, in some ways, I envied their simplistic lifestyle. Yet they would look at me and envy me and the fact I was from London.
wow….u still have the moves!!! truly fantustic yaar…. oh balle balle….
HAHAHA you’ll have to teach me some new ones!
HAHAAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Glad it was to your liking Abz! 😉
Amit, you are a hoot. Thank you for being so brave. I love the commentary and I’m afraid it was just too short. I need for the video to be about 1/2 an hour, and I’d like to know what happens to the bollywood star as “she” goes through life’s ups and downs with her lovers! Thank you for the early morning giggles!
LOL well there may be a sequel yet Farnoosh so watch this space! 😉
hahaha, boy you have balls!!!!!! This is brilliant. Not many men would do that on the streets of London. I am glad you did this. Its hilarious! I hope you are going to continue with the bollywood dancing…although you need to learn how to move your hips a little better!!
Ahhh but Nikita you didn’t really get to to see me properly move my hips and booty! 😉 You only got to see what I can do with my eyes!
Loompy, what can i say? You’ve made me proud boy 🙂
Will u teach us some of your sexy moves for our wedding?
Wait! Better still, u can dance for us!
Can i give u a new challenge? Once u have practised some more – (to make your style EVEN more polished than it already is – i understand this’ll be a tough task), will u take your dance and share it with the people of Leicester Square? – I’m talking full sari, bindi, jewellery, bit of lift!! Hee!
ps. U remind me of those “women” i saw in Bombay!!!
xxx
Of course I will dance for you at your wedding. That isn’t a problem and I’ll gladly show you and the people of Leicester Sq. my moves and you could be as good as me yourself! 😛
i love bollywood movies
Glad you do!
Thanks for the effort you took to expand upon this post. I look forward to future posts.
Thank you too!
hahahahaha LOOOLLLL!!!! omg when was this?? too funny man! i wonder wot happened after that guy took ur hand…. 😉 xxxx
Haha you’ll never know! 😉
we HAVE to try this one day! with a group of friends, in a bigger park – i’ll dress u up with makeup, jewellery, the full works! u game?
Hmmm i’m not sure, I think my days of cross dressing and wearing a Sari are over. 😛
