It’s The Weekend – What Do You Do?
Well it’s the weekend and once again I’ve got a busy full line up ahead of me. Tonight I’m off to Zizzi’s for a birthday dinner!! (HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASSI!!) After that I’m playing poker with the usual lads…for those who like a good laugh, we keep a poker blog here (You probably won’t understand any of our humour but we’ve had some amazing hands recently and we have the pics to proove it!) 😀
Tomorrow me and my brother are doing some work on the house during the day, then after that I’m playing badminton in the evening and after that going to see a friend to give her some adivce on some life stuff. On Sunday I’m trying out Tai Chi in Holland Park and the rest of the time to write, catch up with the house work, wash my undies :-O and do some reading/listen to some audio books! Phew! :p
So a question for all of you SPDF’s (Spiritual Personal Development Freaks): For those of you, who, like me, work a 9 – 5, what do you get up to in your free time? What books are you reading at the moment? What music do you listen to that uplifts you? How do you unwind if you’ve had a tough week? If you don’t work a 9 – 5 I guess the weekend doesn’t mean as much to you so How do you break up your routine?
It’s been an absolutely blazing hot week in London and we’ve had some record temperatures, on Wednesday it nearly hit 100 degrees! That’s unheard of for London in July!!!
Feel free to post randomly your thoughts, suggestions, weekend activities list etc etc…I hope you all have an uplifting enjoyable weekend!
My free time is usually spent either reading, meditating, or listening to music. I like to burden myself with about ten books at once, so at the moment I’m reading Quantum Questions and Simple Feeling of Being by Ken Wilber, the Lamsa Bible by George Lamsa (great translation! yes, god really does love us. who woulda thunk it?), Prayers of the Cosmos (this book retranslates the Lord’s Prayer and the Beautitudes prayer directly from Aramaic, rather than the over-translated King James version, which has been through a rediculous number of translations before finally reaching the English version.), the Dammhapadda, the Spiritual teachings of Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Moon in a Dewdrop. I’m rediculous, hehe. As far as music goes, I’ve been getting into Robert Gass lately, a pretty cool New Agey musician who does chants that are great for meditation. I also love the site http://www.ocremix.org, cause I’m a huge nerd for VG music. Also other stuff like Dream Theater, Steely Dan, Tribe Called Quest, Beethoven, Pachelbel, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, DJ Q-Bert, and George Clinton.
Lately I’ve been focusing alot on my spiritual development though, so these things are taking a backseat, and that’s also why I haven’t been posting on my blog as much 😛
Good morning Robert!
Wow that’s a lot of stuff there! 😀 I’m exactly the same, I tend to read several books at once, it’s a terrible habit but it’s just the way I do things! I’ll have to check out that Robert Gass as I do like new agey music especially while I’m working but when I got to the gym I tend to either listen to audio books or listen to some hip hop.
I have never read any of RWE’s teachings but that something I may check out in the near future. On my current reading list is: The monk who sold his ferrari, Tomorrow’s God (Neale Donald Walsch), Ask and it is given. As I mentioned before I’m also working on my own one called “The Driving ‘Ologies” which will be a short one but something fun to read! (you’ll then be able to add that one to your list! :P)
Thanks for all that Robert!
A 😀
