What Willis Was Talking About
I just had to share this little anecdote of something that happened to me the other day. Diff’rent Strokes was a 70’s/80’s Sitcom that starred Gary Coleman (RIP) as ‘Arnold’.
One of the big gimmicks of the show was when Arnold, used to say to his older brother “Whatcha Talkin’ About Willis?” – If you have never seen it, click the link to see a YouTube clip.
It was one of my favorite shows back then and even now, I still have really fond memories of it.
It just so happens, that on that day, I was wearing my favorite “I’m What Willis Was Talkin’ About” t’shirt. Whenever I do, without fail, it will attract comments from people who also remember the show. I was on my way to catch my bus and as I got on, I decided to stand as there was not much space. A lady also got on, she had a pram with her toddler in, who can’t have been more than 18 months old. She parked her pram next to me and sat down.
I was minding my own business, playing on my phone, and then I spotted something from the corner of my eye. I looked down and saw that this little toddler was giving me EXACTLY the same look as Arnold from the show as if to say “Whatcha Talkin’ About Amit?”
This kid was the spitting image of Gary and when I saw his face, I nearly collapsed to the floor in laughter! The kid looked so serious and that was all I could picture him saying!
I know that anecdote probably doesn’t have much to do with Living Consciously but I just had to share it, as it’s the weekend, and felt like doing something a little light hearted.
For you die-hard fans of personal development who were expecting something a little more poignant, I can always add a conscious living twist to this tale! 😀 Ummm…are you what willis was talking about? 😆 Maybe, next time you sit in zen meditation and want to get focused, instead of thinking, “if a tree falls in a forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Maybe try “Am I what Willis was talkin’ about?” 😆
I love this 🙂 my friend’s son calls me Willis and says exactly the same line…’what you talking about Willis?’ Makes me laugh as he started it at three years old and now he’s four!
Haha that’s awesome! You should film him so we can all see! 😀
Nice little anecdote 🙂 Sometimes personal development is also about having a little laugh instead. Am I right? 😉
Damn right brother! 😉
