Hi Amit,
I notice JZ Knight is in the list and am familiar with her from her interviews as Ramtha in the movie “What the Bleep Do We Know?!”
Are you familiar with “What the Bleep…..”? (For anyone who isn’t, it shows how your thoughs create your reality and universe.) If you are, I am curious as to how this new movie “The Secret” is different from “What the Bleep….” and hope you will share your thoughts on that.
I am familiar but I haven’t seen it as yet! In fact, now you brought it to my attention again I’ll order a copy and then I can answer your question! 🙂
Thanks, Amit…can’t wait to see what you have to say on it. 🙂
Thanks for the information I will be watching tonight. I have not watched “The Secret” but I have watched and I am a fan of “What the bleep”. I have listened to JZ speak and I am very interesting in what angle Larry will be taking. I did not know this was on today thanks again. Will keep an eye out for your review of the program (if you plan on doing that, that is.)
Cheers,
Hi Tabs…unfortunately because I don’t have CNN I didn’t get to see it. Did you watch it, if so, what was your opinion. (Also have you seen the secret?) 🙂
Hello Amit,
Thanks for the heads up on the show, I did watch part the Larry King show, but I have not watched the secret. I did stop watching the LK show at some point, but I was taping it for further analysis. I got a little frustrated in the first 15 minutes of the show because I felt none of the panel members was really articulating what “the power of positive thinking” was. I felt as if they were looking for converts and had to many “isms†and theories that would not make much sense to anyone not already on the path. They probably lost 80% of the audience during the first 15 minutes.
Don’t get me wrong from what I watched they did manage to get out some of the standard self-help gems, like “when looking for love you have to love yourself first,†“collect pictures of what you want in your life†etc…
I stopped watching because I was affected by my thoughts and wanted to watch it without all the clutter I was feeling. So, I plan to watch The Secret and the Larry King Show again on Sunday, and then I believe I will have a valid opinion about the show.
So, this is how I feel right now, I was hoping for a dynamic show and when it was not happening in the first 15, 20 minutes I started hoping that the second part of the show would still happen and that it would have a different panel. “You see why I had to stop watching.â€
I will watch the show again without expectation or bias on Sunday like I said, then with your permission I would love to give my true take on the show.
Cheers,
PS
Reading your blog again I missed the part that you did not get CNN international and Joe was not on the show.
Hi Tabs,
There is a second part to the show coming up on the 16th of November where Joe Vitale will be in it.
Thank you so much for your honest opinion, Like I said I don’t have the channel here, if you’ve taped it and can tape the other one too, I would love to get a copy off you so I can watch it too.
I’m really looking forward to you analysis of The Secret and the panel on the LK show, thank you so much for sharing! 🙂
Michelle,
I managed to borrow a copy of What the bleep from a friend. I was very intrigued and since I used to study physics, only on an amatuer level, to get answers to some of the many questions I had regarding some of the spiritual knowledge I was given years ago, I found it to be quite fascinating.
The difference between The Secret and What The Bleep – Quite simply, they both have the same underlying message, but in The Secret, it’s mor about the application of how to manifest anything you want in your life…or how to use the Law of Attraction. They only do a minute amount of detail about the physics aspect of why it works.
Hi Amit & Tabs,
I watched Larry King also, but will reserve comment until after Tabs has a chance to see the whole show and finish commenting.
Amit, thanks for your opinion on “What the Bleep…” The study guide (free online) goes in the direction of creating/manifesting, but it concentrates more on the aspects of creating the mental and emotional life you want than on manifesting physical things.
Also interesting….this Law of Attraction information has been floating around for decades, but has enjoyed a media revival (and therefore a revival in mainstream society) since the idea of DVD parties came into being. In fact, the media until recently scoffed at the whole idea of a Law of Attraction as goofy. Perhaps the scientific advances in the way thought affects outcome as it is supposed to do in observing waves & particles has shown that it is not just possible, it is probable that thoughts are a part of the cause-and-effect cycle. (i.e. We needed the “What the Bleep…” before “The Secret” so we had that scientific proof which would allow acceptance of the premise. It’s amazing to me the number of people who will not believe something without “scientific proof” which, more often than not, is merely an incomplete theory which people take as fact.)
Anyway, where I was going with the media thing is the idea that people watching movies like this together at DVD parties also lend each other support in many ways (personal, psychological, energetic) which can enhance the process of the Law of Attraction. (I missed an opportunity to attend such a party since it was being held in Oregon after I came to California.) 🙁
Hey Amit,
You can download and watch the entire episode from this link:

Enjoy…

PS: I have watched The Secret and found it quite inspiring and motivational, but do have some reservations about LOA. I think the presentation is overly simplistic and I personally believe that it is only scratching the surface of the underlying mechanism that produces our “reality” as we understand it. I hope to comment on this sometime. Just really busy now – no time to even update my own blog!
Thank you so much Antarananda! 🙂
I have to go out now but if will discuss this with you all when I get back.
Oh and I will respond to your comments you mentioned about the secret very shortly. 😉
I watched The Secret today and I truly enjoyed it. I spent a couple of years studying the Universal Laws, so I am no stranger to the law of attraction. I like the movie because it got its message across in an uncomplicated manner. Anyone watching from my 11 year old niece to my mum could understand what they were talking about. That, in my opinion was what was lacking from the Larry King interview.
I watched the interview again today, without distractions. Larry had great opening and the questions were stop-on, if I was walking by the TV, I would stop to listen. But when the answers came, well, if this was not my profession and something I wanted to watch, I would have changed the channel.
I still believe the panel’s answers where filled with aphorisms and sound bites that were quite distracting from whatever message they were trying to deliver. I found myself saying, “Just answer the question don’t go off on a tangent first, and then try to answer the question.â€
In my opinion, the message is so important and when clearly delivered we reach more people. I know the truth about positive thinking, personal development, self-help and so on reached more people because of this show and I am grateful for that. It is a great start and hopefully more networks will start to follow suit. We can really use the positive thinking on earth today.
Kudos to everyone on the Beyond Positive Thinking Panel. I am looking forward to the next show and after watching the movie, I am looking forward to seeing Jack Canfield and Joe Vitale (I didn’t know he was a metaphysician).
Amit, thanks once again for bringing this show and the movie to my attention, I will purchase a copy of the movie. I see someone has given you a link to the show, tell me if you still need the tape.
Michelle, I am looking forward to your review of the show and thanks for giving me a chance to watch.
Cheers everyone,
Hi Tabs,
Thank you so much for your feedback on both The Secret and the LK show – Beyond Positive thinking.
Yep, I managed to download the show from the link that Antarananda gave me so I too managed to watch the show last night.
I felt that they did a good job of putting forward some of the basic principles of the LOA attraction especially considering that they had such limited time. Not to mention there was 5 of them all competing for that short time to air their ideas. You could tell, that unlike normal, this particular LK show was pre taped and you could see that much of it was edited and some parts removed.
I’m really glad you enjoyed The Secret, I would guess that I’ve already recommended it to about a hundred people and most people so far have really enjoyed it and understood it’s deeper meaning the and ramifications of the ULOA
Thanks again tabs for all your input!
P.S. If you could tape the second part also just incase I cannot get a hold of it, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!
Hi Tabs and Amit,
My review of the Larry King show pretty much aligns with what the two of you have said. 🙂 It was interesting, but disjointed. I think that someone not familiar with the principles got a good list of some of the basics, but it might have been hard to follow. Instead of five speakers, they might have been better with only three. They did compete quite a lot, especially toward the end, talking over each other, and when more than one speaks at a time, I can’t catch what they are saying.
On the opposite side of the coin, anyone who is familiar with LoA is already familiar with everything that was said in the show (except for the personal stories, of course). That was probably intentional. I think the show was meant to present some basic information to whet the appetite of anyone who tuned in to see if the topic would be interesting.
🙂
Hi! does anyone have the link to the third interview on the secret with larry King?
help well appreciated.
Thanks
