Breathe, Relax And Let Go

Breathe

Do you often put pressure on yourself to deliver and then find yourself in a rut? Do you always expect so much of yourself and fall short because you can’t meet your own expectations? When was the last time you took a moment to yourself to breathe, relax and let go?

For the past few days I’ve been saying to myself “I must write an article. I must get one one out as soon as possible” etc.

When I apply that kind of pressure to myself, I find that I am not able to get the inspiration to deliver a truly meaningful article that will be of genuine benefit to you.

Have you found yourself in the same boat? That is, you put all this unnecessary pressure upon yourself and then you don’t perform as well as you know you can?

I’ve done it many times and in many situations, and it always ends with the same result which is usually a pretty bad one.

If any of this sounds familiar, the best thing you can do is:

breathe, relax and let go.

When you let go, and I mean properly allow yourself to release any of the tension that you’ve allowed to build up by putting all that pressure on yourself, then you’ll find yourself in a position to deliver the best.

Why?

The thought process of “I must do this, I must do that” is a task-list in your head. It is completely void of any true purpose behind it.

When we pile those kinds of meaningless tasks onto ourselves, we get stressed and feel unnecessary pressure.

When a task is spawned through inspiration, there is no pressure attached. You act from a place of purity that allows you to move forward in a state of complete flow. It often follows and occurs when you allow yourself to breathe and pause.

And so, here it is, this piece is a very simple product of letting go. It required very little effort on my part. It all emerged naturally and also, interestingly, needed almost no editing.

If you find yourself, piling on meaning task lists in your head, breathe, relax and let go, and allow your natural flow to emerge.

Nice one bro, I’ve found that in the past the pressure to get things out there is an effort to fulfil the expectations of others. This eclipses the real stuff inside and the product is half-baked. For me I can tell I’m in that state when the back of my neck is stiff or my shoulders are touching my ears! But after a deep breath and a fart I’m all good again! : ) But seriously, realisation is required, some go on in that stressed mode in denial…it’s not cool for productivity or health.

You are so right with this article. Writing under stress or pressure is not always the best. I’ve learnt over time that keeping calm helps in the thought process of writing if anything good and inspirational is to be achieved

      Hi Rose,

Thank you so much sharing, and I couldn’t agree more. People often talk about working under pressure but I believe the real genius and creative prowess emerges from a state of pure relaxation.

      Thank you again,

This reminds me of myself. I often go and put lots of pressure on myself to get things done then I often feel really guilty if I don’t complete my big to do list.
The best thing to do is to relax and let go instead of putting enormous pressure on yourself and often creating huge expectations on yourself which is what I tend to do sometimes in order to get things done.
I really like picture of the pony! very calming! 🙂

      Hi Reena.

the guilt is a big huge part of the pressure and stress. We have even termed it as a guilty conscience.

Glad you like the picture – I thought it was apt 😀

      All the best
