Valentines Day – Just Enjoy It
A very happy Valentines day to you. It’s the first time in six years since starting this blog that I’ve decided to properly blog about valentines day.
I love the concept of Valentines. I love the symbolism of it all and I love the simple ways in which people celebrate their love for one another.
These days of course, you’re almost seen as a sell-out if you celebrate. People talk about how commercialism has taken over. People are almost afraid to celebrate now because so many people have jumped on the cynical bandwagon.
It’s a such shame that such a beautiful day has taken it’s toll on people and has left people with mixed emotions.
It’s taken the focus away from the day and it’s true meaning. It’s just a day which people can celebrate together and show their love to all the special people in their life. It’s doesn’t just have to be spouses or partners.
Life is challenging enough and so why not make a special day to shower people with affection to make up for the days in which we sometimes forget. It’s just about using this one day as a focus on love and appreciation.
I for one haven’t forgotten and am going to be letting all my friends, family and my special someone know just how much they mean to me.
You don’t have to buy cards, or flowers, or expensive gifts, or make expensive trips. You can celebrate with a special breakfast together, make something special for someone or even dig out something that has a special meaning to both of you.
You don’t have to be in a relationship also to make the most out of Valentines day. Even if you’re single, you don’t have to be lonely and feel that way just because you see others celebrating. Everything always looks greener but you can make special that which is already around you. Just show some extra love to your family and friends.
Maybe even head out with friends on fun dating events and help those around you find love.
However you choose to celebrate, please don’t let the cynics win. Valentines day is beautiful and always see the deeper meaning in it beyond the commercial marketing hype.
Happy St. Valentine’s Day to you too, Amit! Thanks for sharing this nice post!
Hey Roman, you are welcome and I hope you had an amazing Valentines day my friend! 🙂
Lovely article! Although I must confess, up until last year I used to be one of those passengers on the cynical bandwagon….. Valentines Day is hyped so much these days to the point where the history behind this date has lost all meaning….. Same goes for Christmas….. Some people have become so materialistic that they fail to enjoy the simpler things in life…. The media are the main culprits for this sort of influence…. It is such a shame but your article will help put everything in perspective so keep em comin dude! 🙂 x
I will keep ’em coming! 😉 And I’m so glad you don’t feel that cynical way anymore, can I assume it’s because of the fact that you may have met someone? 😉
Haha yes indeed it is because I’ve recently met someone…. I’ll introduce you to him someday, I’m sure you guyz would get along VERY well 😉
> celebrate together
I read this as, celebrate “together”, and I liked that.
Hey JD, thank you for that! 🙂
I agree, love is about sharing it with the people you care about and who matter most to you. Otherwise valentines is kinda hyped, its a nice day in a year to show affection towards the people who have value in your life now. 🙂 nice article.
